Talk Series #10 - Critical Writing Exchange Program

The 10th talk series of Rybon Art Center was dedicated to introduce “art criticism”. This was a part of Critical Writing Exchange Program, as a collaboration between Kooshk Residency and Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) which will be happening for one month in Tehran and then in Dublin. Siamak Delzendeh, Anne Mullee and Barry Kahoe, the three selected participants of this program gave a presentation about their previous research and activities.

Barry Kehoe first described a bit about the status of art in southern Ireland and then gave some introductions about the art schools in Dublin, The Museum of Modern Art, and a brief description of his working experiences. The acquaintance of Ireland with Iranian art goes back to Shirin Neshat’s exhibition in Museum of Modern Art in 2006, and Shirazeh Houshiari is the only Iranian artist whom an art work of her can be found in the museum archive. Siamak Delzendeh presented a short description about his work and studies in Montreal and then introduced his articles published in Iranian and English language publications in detail. In the end Anne Mullee, the other Irish guest, presented her previous written articles and then gave some explanations about some shows curated by her. After finishing the residency in Tehran, the selected artists will continue the discussions about art criticism in Dublin.
