pARTage INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS WORKSHOP 2014
This year pARTage will be celebrating its 10 years of activity. Our first international workshop took place in 2004. It would be impossible to imagine the local art scene without pARTage. So much has changed and so much is still to be done. we would like to use this 10 years celebration not to look back with nostalgia but to look forward with enthusiasm. An international workshop based on the Triangle model seems to be the best approach to celebrate these 10 years. It will be a truly multicultural encounter with the opportunity to investigate new challenges that affects both art and society today.
Theme: ARTchipelago The art-world has always been divided into the centre and the periphery, where the centre always dominates. Throughout History this torque center/periphery, colonizer/colonized , the dominant and the dominated has been operating and is still operative in international relations.
The concept of "Archipelago" just breaks this dualistic view of the world. An Archipelago is a group of islands relatively close to each other. This concept is used in geography to refer to a specific mode of appropriation of space between individual elements having important and crucial ties. Though each island has its own specificity, both geographical and cultural; together they form a whole. We would like to embrace the concept of archipelago, develop new ties, explore our common interests and make the whole far greater than the sum of its parts.
