Khoj International Artists' Association invites applications for the following residencies
I In Context:public.art.ecology Part III International Artists’ Residency

Applications are invited for an international residency 'In Context:public.art.ecology Part III' @ Khoj, for art projects exploring ecological thematics preferably in public spaces around Delhi. The residency will be for 4- 6 weeks starting in the first week of March to mid April 2012.
We invite proposals from individual artists and artists' collectives, with projects in response to urgent ecological issues affecting the urban city. This year we have a special focus on the notion of food: food as artistic medium incorporating performance, art installations or interactive events that re-examine the significance and relevance of food in the social context, simply in its connection with the body or as a primary ritual that fosters engagement, interaction and collaboration.
However, projects need not be limited to the above.
The applications should include the following:
- Artist biography & images of previous projects
- Concept Note
- Production & Installation Budget not exceeding INR 1,00,000 (USD 2000) for the proposed project
Costs of travel, modest accommodation and daily allowance are separate from the above production budget.
II Art & Fashion International Artists' Residency 2012

Applications are invited for a residency at Khoj Studios, Delhi, to realise the intersection of Art & Fashion from 1st- 28th February 2012.
Blurring the boundaries between art and fashion, we invite proposals from creative practitioners for projects that explore visual and intellectual principles which chart these processes through disciplines not readily associated with art and fashion, but motivated by political, social and economic realities as also inspired by architecture, philosophy, science, history, technology and so on.
The applications should include the following:
- Artist biography & images of previous projects
- Concept Note
- Production & Installation Budget not exceeding INR 50,000 (Approx USD 500) for the proposed project
Costs of travel, modest accommodation and daily allowance are separate from the above Production budget.
III Curatorial Residency @ 1.Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery, Bengaluru

Applications are invited for a curatorial residency at 1.Shanthiroad, Bengaluru from 15th January to 15th March 2012, which will culminate in a project/ exhibition by end of the year.
As part of the four-year Curatorship Programme conceptualized by India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) in collaboration with select institutions across the country, this is the third residency in a series of projects that Khoj will undertake as the nodal centre facilitating curatorial practice in the visual arts. For the this residency, Khoj and 1.Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery wish to introduce the resident curator to a model of curating that blurs boundaries between disciplines with a focus on practices such as New Media, Performance and functions outside the white-cube paradigm of galleries/exhibitions.
The applications should include the following:
- A copy of your latest resume
- 3 writing samples/ Post graduate thesis
- Catalogues/ documentation of exhibitions that you have curated in the past
- A brief proposal for the residency based on the brief above
- Two recommendation letters from art professionals who are familiar with your work
- Any additional material that may support your application
The invited curator will be provided with travel expenses, housing, and a stipend for expenses while in residence at 1.Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery, Bangalore as well as a seed budget for an exhibition.
The Curatorship Programme is funded by the Jamsetji Tata Trust.
